Mystic Topaz is also known as Fire Topaz, Mystic Fire Topaz, Alaskan ice and Rainbow Topaz. These are all different names used to describe the same stone which is White Topaz treated by titanium vapour to imbue the stone with a permanent rainbow of colors. Mystic topaz may be so-called because its attractive changing colours appear deep, mysterious and unusual.
The Egyptians, Romans and ancient Greeks believed mystic topaz to be powerful and protecting because it was associated with the sun god.
